Officially known as “mexico City Policy”, it has been inserted by Ronald Reagan in 1984 (do you remembe the novel?). Bill Clinton did cancel it on 1993, then George W. Bush made it re-born in 2001, and new President Barack Obama cancelled it again by an executive order.
From now on the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) could restore on its list of payees all the world wide organizations which give informations and suggestions about abortion as a solution.
Moreover, on Thursday president Obama gave a rapprochement message to the thousand people who demonstrate in the US capital against abortion.
From one side Obama celebrated the Roe-vs-Wade judgement as a decision which protects women’s health and freedom and which confirms the the government should not intrude in private family’s affairs and in women’s choices.
On the other side Obama did remind that whatever is our thought, we are all unite to prevent unwanted motherhoods, to reduce the needing for abortion e to sustain women and families in their decisions.
Even during the election campaign Obama did try to find a common plan, defending the lawfulness of abortion and showing it as a ‘always tragic situation’.
